Growing Between Places is a space for the quiet moments of transition, the in-between chapters where life shifts, identities stretch, and we begin to understand who we are becoming. It’s a home for the stories that don’t always have a clear beginning or end, the reflections that rise slowly and the gentle realisations that shape us over time.
My name is Iman. I’m 25, and my journey has been shaped by movement, psychology and the search for belonging. I am half Egyptian and half Scottish and spent most of my childhood living between countries. I am a brown, muslim girl who has never quite fit into the expectations around me, and I have never fully blended into the worlds I was raised in. When Scotland became my home, I found myself navigating a different kind of in-between, being from here and not from here, familiar, yet foreign, visible yet misunderstood. That tension, the space between cultures, identities and versions of myself, has shaped the way I see the world.
I created Growing Between Places because I’ve learned that belonging isn’t always found in one place or one identity. Sometimes it’s something we build slowly, through the places we live, the people we meet and the versions of ourselves we grow into.
Here you’ll find the stories shaped by place, letters to the versions of myself I’ve grown through and reflections on identity, healing and the work of becoming. My background in psychology guides the way I write, with curiosity, compassion and a desire to understand the deeper threads that connect our experiences.
This space is for anyone who has ever felt in transition, between homes, between cultures, between identities or maybe just between chapters. It’s for those who are learning to trust themselves, who are rebuilding and those who are simply trying to grow at their own pace.
You’re welcome to grow here, gently and honestly.

The making of a women who has continued to grow is a beautiful thing to behold.
